THE HUM @ HSTACFROM RACHAEL SAYWELL, HSTAC'S OFFICE TRAINEE Well, it's been a while since I've had any input into the Humbytes newsletter. I've been keeping really busy, both on the work and the home front. I'm continuing to work my way through my Certificate III in Business, which now doesn't seem such a daunting task as the end is finally in sight. I can also now proudly say that I have been working with Human Services Training Advisory Council officially for one year now, as of the 16th of April 2008 and will be continuing to do so with the extension of my contract until early next year. I have learnt many things in the year I have been here at HSTAC as well as being able to accomplish things I never thought I would be able to. Over the past year I have also had the chance to meet many people whilst working at HSTAC and it still amazes me to this day how Barbara knows so many people!! Well, until next time, or as things happen and progress, I will let you all know.
REFRAMING THE FUTURE HSTAC has been successful in obtaining funding through Reframing the Future to realise a sustainable model for Enrolled Nurse training in the Northern Territory. The goal of the project is to be innovative in responding to the needs of students, and the emerging skill needs and workforce development requirements of industry and communities. The priority area for the project is to innovatively and flexibly implement a new, recently revised or rationalised Training Package. HSTAC's Operations Manager, Marilyn Harris, attended a Start-up Workshop in Melbourne on Friday 9th May, where all successful applicants were introduced to the framework and the methodology. The program and list of possible participants for the project, as well as an inspiring Guest Speaker, will be developed shortly. If you have a keen interest in participating in the project, please contact Marilyn on (08) 8981 2550, or email projects@hstac.com.au
AUSTRALIAN FLEXIBLE LEARNING FRAMEWORK The Council for Aboriginal Alcohol Program Services (CAAPS), partnering with HSTAC, has been successful in obtaining funding for E-learning Innovation projects in the NT. They will work together to develop an E-learning resource focusing on two units from the Community Services Training Package which will cover initial safety induction for night patrol workers using storytelling, videos, photos and drawings. Contact Marilyn on (08) 8981 2550 or email projects@hstac.com.au if you would like to know more, or are interested in having input into the project.
