'NO MORE PLAYING AROUND' FORUM - REGISTER NOW!

Tickets are now available for the public forum 'No More Playing Around' on Wednesday 2 August 2006 at Holiday Inn Esplanade, Darwin.

The forum will raise awareness of the dedicated professional workers who are responsible for looking after the health and wellbeing of children aged 0-8 years.

Facilitated by wellknown ABC journalist and TV presenter, Geraldine Doogue, the forum will also include a panel of industry experts to help guide the discussion.

Currently, sponsors are Newmont Tanami Pty Ltd (Silver Sponsor) and Alcan Gove (Bronze Sponsor). Contributions have also been made by Paspaley Pearls.

The hosts for the evening will be the Early Childhood Workforce Advisory Group and Human Services Training Advisory Council.

The Department of Employment, Education and Training Awards honour the Territory's top apprentices, trainees and employers in the 2006 Northern Territory Training Awards.

Endorsement Process: The Health Training Package HLT06 is still tracking towards submission for endorsement in July 2006.After completion of Draft 3 and the necessary consultation, the final HLT06 Draft will be:
  • Submitted to the Industry Skills Council Board for consideration
  • Sent to the Department of Education Science and Training (DEST), who convene a teleconference of State Training Authorities, the Skills Council and DEST re: the reviewed Training Package
  • Submitted to the National Quality Council (NQC) for sign-off once State Training Authorities have had any Training Package issues resolved following the teleconference
  • Sent to State, Territory and Australian Government Training Ministers for sign-off.

During the Draft 2 Industry Validation Period, the Draft 2 Qualifications Framework document was downloaded 27,886 times!

Sample pages for the Certificate III and Diploma in Children's Services Learning Guides are now available for viewing from the CSHTA website. Each guide provides tables of contents, a page of content, and page of an assessment task. View sample guides here

The Assessment Tasks for each guide are also available on CD ROM for ease of customisation for trainers and assessors, and are free with every purchase.

The Learning Guides come as printed workbooks in packs of 10, and preferential pricing is available for large orders and on a case-by-case basis.

E-COUNSELLING TRIAL TO SUPPORT LEARNERS WITH DISABILITIES

Seven Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) will benefit from new funding allocated by the Inclusive e-Learning (Learners with Disabilities) Project, part of the 2005-2006 Australian Flexible Learning Framework.

This funding will be used to assess the impact and benefits of e-learning technologies for learners with a disability.
