Reframing the Future ENcircles - Enrolled Nursing Forums HSTAC is hosting two one-day forums in Darwin on August 29 and September 19. Participants have been invited from Registered Training Organisations, the Health sector, Registration Boards and Schools for the purpose of realising a sustainable model for enrolled nursing in the Northern Territory. Together, we will create a shared framework for EN advancement in the NT. Built around a positive core using the Appreciative Inquiry methodology, participants will be asked positive questions about:
Karen Workman, Staff Development consultant at the Royal Adelaide Hospital will be guest speaker for the first ENcircle. Karen has been involved in pre and post enrolment education for enrolled nurses since 2003 and is a strong advocate for the development and education of enrolled nurses. Dare to Dream with Danila Dilba Danila Dilba's Dare to Dream program is an emotional and social wellbeing program aimed at improving the mental health of local Indigenous clients. The program itself has three main areas of delivery:
Access to the Dare to Dream program can be through self referral or through a GP or agency. All contact with the Dare to Dream program are treated in the strictest of confidence and are continued on a voluntary client basis. Participants sought for Emotion, Women & Disability Study Marge Charlesworth of Women with Disabilities Australia (WWDA) is currently seeking women with disabilities to participate in a research study entitled Emotion, Women and Disability. The study will explore the ways that women with disabilities are required to express certain emotions while suppressing other emotions in order to 'fit in' with society's expectations. Women who were born with a disability, or acquired a disability prior to the age of 3 years old, are invited to participate online. Governance Workshop CAAPS-run Workshop for CEO's, Board & Council Members of NT Indigenous Community Controlled Organisations The Council for Aboriginal Alcohol Program Services will run a Governance Workshop from the 18th-22nd of August at the Quality Hotel Frontier in Darwin. The workshop will focus on governance issues for Indigenous Community Controlled Organisations and will feature motivational speaker, mentor and trainer John Mero. Each day of the workshop will focus on a different governance topic. Subjects explored will include monitoring organisational operations and performance; financial governance; conducting effective Board meetings; and resolving barriers to success.
