National Industry Skills Councils

This section contains information about the role of National Industry Skills Councils and identifies the councils that relate to human services.

The Industry Skills Councils provide advice and information between the national vocational education and training (VET) system and industry. They have two key roles:

  • providing accurate industry intelligence to the VET sector about current and future needs and training requirements, and
  • supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of quality nationally recognised training products and services, including training packages.

Human Services Training Advisory Council has connections to and a working relationship with two Industry Skills Councils:

Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council

Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council (CSHISC) is responsible for the development, review and maintenance of the Community Services Training Package and the Health Training Package.

Government Skills Australia

The connection between HSTAC and Government Skills Australia is they are responsible for the development, review and maintenance of the Corrections Training Package and the Local Government Training Package.
